Norma’s provided me with theeeeeee best, fluffiest, choclatey pancakes I have ever experienced…..and they are always in contention when Mrs BTR and I go out for breakfast. Norma’s was my favourite breakfast in New York…..well, until summer 2018 when we are back in NYC.
Having reserved a table for 9.30am when we arrived the table was ready and were taken to our seats. The waitress, tall, but can not remember her name (sorry) was excellent from start to finish – welcoming, friendly and observant.
The excitement of Nutella Pancakes!
Breakfast – I ordered Nutella Filled American Pankcakes, whilst Mrs BTR ordered Salmon Eggs Benedict – both amazing and very filling, setting us up for a day of exploring in NYC. I always worry about ordering pancakes in case they are small, not that fluffy……or don’t have enough nutella / chocolate with them – there are no worries at all with Norma’s pancakes. The pancakes were HUUUUGE and when cutting them open you are met with plenty of nutella to keep each mouthful chocolatey! Mrs BTR informed me that the eggs were well cooked, runny and as you can see plenty of salmon was present to enjoy. She also enjoyed some quality tea during breakfast. As we were finishing our breakfast the waitress then brought over more food……..a celebratory chocolate, berry, cream creation to celebrate Mrs BTR’s birthday – as always a nice touch from the restaurant and I was grateful for their staff reading my emails about the special occasion.
Location and Restaurant – Located in Parker Meridian Hotel on 56th street, just a couple of blocks south of central park, it was easy to find from our hotel (The London) just round the corner. The restaurant had a great feel to it, is bright and didn’t feel too over-crowded but had a good ambience.
Verdict – If you fancy a big breakfast to set you up for the day…..and probably skip lunch then Norma’s will not let you down. You probably will need to book a table in advance – it was full when we were there and I had booked 2/3 months in advance.
